OUR SCHOOL SONG

In the onward march of life
In our Island State
We need the tools for building
A bright and glorious fate
Training for any service
Needs all of our might
Now that we are enabled
We’ll work through day and night
Chorus:
FTPSS Our Alma Mater
We always will honour her
In our behaviour
In our endeavours we’ll succeed
Toiling day by day
We’ll always be diligent
In our work and play
Be it in our classroom
Or out on the field
Striving for the mastery
Never will we yield
FTPSS Our Alma Mater
We always will honour her
In our behaviour

A Message from Principal Lim Kok Hwa

‘All good things must come to an end.’

Although a cliché, to the staff and students of FTPSS, both current and former, it is a statement that reflects everything they associated with FTPSS for the first part of the statement, and a sense that it was inevitable, for the latter part.

FTPSS has been a wonderful experience and journey for many of her students and teachers, and others who have had a direct and meaningful connection to her. What is so special about the FTPSS experience and journey that makes many of these stakeholders filled with sadness when they heard the news of the merger, and yet uplifted by the knowledge that they were privileged to be a part of the FTPSS family?

Some may have fond memories of the nooks and corners of the two premises of the school, in the rustic ambience at Lorong 1 Toa Payoh and the welcoming second home to many a student and staff at Toa Payoh East. Many would have fond recollections of the time spent in the classrooms and at their co-curricular activities.

However, what really stood out as we began our last lap of the FTPSS journey leading to the merger, were the fond memories, testimonials and endorsements of the many beautiful and meaningful relationships which bound the various stakeholders during their time spent at FTPSS. Those that we interviewed for this special commemorative microsite (such as current students, alumni, parents and teachers, both past and present) attested to the special bonds forged between students and teachers, between peers, between colleagues and between parents and teachers.

In schools, positive relationships, especially student-teacher relationships, are at the heart of an effective learning environment. The positive influences of these special relationships in the educational journey of those who came through the doors of FTPSS is something special and endearing that would be etched in our memories of the school.

We hope that the narratives of this special microsite, of a very special place in our hearts, will help to sustain the relationship of everyone and anyone connected to FTPSS despite this final merger.

Still as always… To The Years Ahead!
